What is Reiki?

Reiki (Ray-Key) is Japanese for universal life energy.  It is also a word used to describe a system of natural healing developed by Mikao Usui in the early 20th century.

Reiki is a technique for relaxation and stress reduction.  It promotes the body's natural ability to heal.  Reiki is a natural healing energy that works on every level, not just the physical.

The National Occupational Standards for Reiki require practitioners to have a Reiki lineage that can be traced directly back to Mikao Usui and to have been attuned/initiated in person.

How Do I Receive Reiki?

Reiki flows through the Reiki practitioner into the recipient.  Though hand positions are used by the practitioner, Reiki goes where Reiki needs to go.

Ordinarily, the method of receiving a Reiki treatment from a practitioner is simple. The recipient remains clothed and lies on a couch or sits on a chair and relaxes. The practitioner gently places their hands non-intrusively, on or near the body.  It is also possible to receive Reiki at a distance, this is called Distance Healing.

The uncertainty of Covid  has changed all of that and it is not always possible to have in person treatments.  However, Caron at Permission to Relax, recognises that in these difficult and challenging times Reiki is needed more than ever.  She therefore uses either in person treatments or a combination of distance healing and technology to provide face to face Reiki with a difference.
